What is Causing My Jaw Pain?
There are a number of potential sources for your jaw pain and a handful of reasons why it may be occurring, including (but not limited to):
- Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)
- Whiplash
- Teeth grinding
- Poor posture
- Broken bones in the head, neck, face, or jaw
- Arthritis
You may also experience jaw pain following surgery or an accident, such as a car crash or workplace injury. Stress and anxiety can also play a role in making your muscles tight, strained, or inflexible.
Sometimes jaw pain may be momentary or short-lived, but other times it may stick around. When it doesn’t go away or begins to interfere with your life, that’s when you’re going to need help treating jaw pain.
